Role Description

Position Summary:

Perform cage wash tasks, laundering, trash removal, unload material shipments, load out stericycle, swap out chemical, deliver feed, animal care and husbandry according to government and company standards; and other duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities: May include but are not limited to:

-Preparation of animal caging and items for washing, mixing and application of disinfectants, cage wash operation, proper storage of clean caging.

-Operates a variety of equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, bobcat, tractor, club car, autoclave, cage/tunnel washers efficiently to support facility operations.

-Unloads materials delivered to the animal facility (such as chemicals, feed, animals, supply orders) and transports them to appropriate storage and/or use locations.

-Complete D.O.T. Hazardous Materials Training for biomedical waste disposal.

-Loads up Stericycle totes on a weekly schedule.

-Removes and disposes of trash, maintains cleanliness of work area in support of husbandry operations.

-Launders facility items including jackets, towels, surgery drapes, blankets, etc.

-Ensures adherence to maintenance schedules for cage washer and associated equipment to prevent equipment failures.

-Performs minor maintenance on equipment/cages to prevent delays in husbandry operations.

-Communicate with and assist animal care technicians, Facility Operations Lead and researchers to support facility operations in a synergistic manner.

-May assist with animal husbandry activities.

-Carries out duties according to standard operating protocols.

-Identifies and implements process improvements, shares knowledge and expertise with others in the work group.

-May be required to wear N95 mask.

-May occasionally include evening, weekend, and holiday work hours.

Education and Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED. The candidate should possess excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills. Basic computer skills required.
Preferred
  • Two-year degree in a science-based field with animal care and husbandry experience.
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Experience organizing equipment and commodity transport, storage, and delivery; ability to operate a variety of equipment types.
  • Organizational ability to create an efficient workflow schedule to coordinate facility husbandry and support activities for maximal productivity.
Physical Position Requirements
  • This job entails predominantly standing duties.
