National Instruments is seeking a Technical Quality Program Manager who is a strong leader and enjoys technical challenges, problem-solving, creative thinking, and cross-functional interactions. This individual will report to the Corporate Quality and Continuous Improvement (CI) Department and will be engaged extensively with Global Services, Manufacturing, and R&D to ensure that customers' expectations are met. People management is not required.

This role offers global exposure within NI and to our customers and enables the Quality Team to be Best in Class in reaching business goals and objectives by driving effectiveness and efficiencies through Continuous Improvement of existing quality processes and tools.

This role will work across functions to determine risks and mitigation plans during product development, deployment and ongoing monitoring of systems, support system-level (cross-product) and key customer escalations. This role will have close collaboration with NI's transportation business unit

The ideal candidate will possess skills in adaptability, influencing, business acumen, communication, continuous improvement, decision making, driving for results, initiating action, and managing conflict at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Quality Issue Management

  • Be the face of NI and drive resolution to customer concerns and escalations.

  • Drive process improvements to develop NI's Quality Processes

  • Develop key internal metrics to track first time and ongoing Quality at NI

  • Proactively support product design and manufacturability through robust use of Design & Process FMEA development and documentation at NI

  • Guide complex escalations for customers both internally and externally and drive issues to efficient closure


  • Provide regular communication to stakeholders and customers through formal communication plans to assure clarity on status, next steps, and resolution of issues

  • Drive root cause analysis to identify permanent corrective actions to prevent issues from recurring


  • Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent Automotive experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with Automotive Quality Standards with either OEM or Tier 1 Supplier

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership in cross-functional issue management, leading effective meetings, being customer success focused

  • Demonstrated Program Management experience within Automotive Quality

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to deal with ambiguity


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including FMEA, failure analysis, and root cause analysis

  • Experience with direct customer interactions and/or account issues management

  • Be able travel to global NI locations and customers as required [up to 25% of time]


  • Position Preferences

  • PMP or other Project Management certification

  • Prior experience working with Purchasing
