VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced and highly motivated veterinary technician assistant to join our growing Oncology Department at our well established, multi-specialty practice in Clackamas, Oregon.

Our state of the art facility was constructed in 1999 and is a fully functioning multi-specialty hospital in Clackamas, Oregon just outside of Portland.

Job Description

The Oncology Technician Assistant essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • : Assisting with anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery
  • : Participates in daily clinical treatment rounds.
  • : Assists with appointments and client communication with patient discharge
  • : Maintains clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • : Assists in client communication: presenting estimates, consent forms and regular patient updates.
  • : Performing patient care including restraint , venipuncture, placement of IV catheters
  • : Performing in-house lab tests such as: bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology staining, etc.
  • : Assisting in-house imaging diagnostics including radiographs
  • : Providing education to clients in regards to chemotherapy side effects, at home care and safety precautions specific to oncology patients.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • : One or more years in specialty practice, oncology preferred.
  • : Candidate should possess the ability to multitask, handle stressful and emotional situations.
  • : Candidate should have a good understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with veterinary pharmacology.
  • : Must be able to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • : Must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-started with a professional and positive attitude.
  • : Flexibility with work schedule.
