Are you a night owl looking for temporary work for the summer months? Do you have experience in highway construction or looking to gain experience in highway construction? NDOT is looking for a temporary Highway Construction Technician to serve as an Inspector on heavy highway projects on Interstate 80 in Kearney, Grand Island, and York.
Summer positions, are temporary, until about November 30, 2021. Hours may depend on weather, may be more or less than 40 hours per week. Starting and ending dates at different intervals.
Applicants who possess the required agency qualifications may be hired at the Highway Construction Technician II level ($17.75/hour) upon review/verification of documentation, etc.
Examples of Work
Successful applicants will be under immediate supervision and trained to perform standard tests on construction material and inspections in routine phases of construction projects, and/or to participate as a member of a survey crew. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED: Coursework, training, and/or experience in construction surveying, materials testing, or inspections practices, and in using associated instruments and equipment. Basic computer experience.
OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is also required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic math skills. Must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, bend, stoop, and walk long distances and work in outdoor temperature extremes. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
