Description
Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is looking for Temporary Interior Space Planners to join our Centralized Operations and Materiel Services (COMS) unit within our Operational division! This is an excellent temporary opportunity that will last up to 1 year from start date.

**This is a full-time, temporary position expected to last 1 year from start date**

Examples of Work

• This position will be responsible for the provision of space planning services including complex interior layouts of new and existing furniture systems.
• Conduct ergonomic assessments.
• Updating drawings to 'as-built' status.
• Meeting with internal clients to determine space needs and construction requests.
• Forming professional relationships with external stakeholders to develop project estimates, products, and knowledge center resources.
• Developing preliminary project plans including, but not limited to: floor plans, specifications, and estimates for a variety of interior, exterior, and renovation projects.
• Position will ensure that all project parameters are satisfied including knowledge of data, phone, electrical, MEP, and civil design fields.
• Position will review plans and specifications by outside architects and contractors for compliance with agency standards and requirements.
• Manage renovation and new construction projects through coordination with agency staff, outside consultants or contractors, and landlords. This includes on-site inspection for compliance with project specifications. This position will be critical in ensuring building compliance with life safety codes (NFPA 101, NFPA 99), ADA Accessibility Guidelines, Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, Hospital Joint Commission standards, CMS standards, Facility Guidelines Institute, and other applicable state and local building codes. Existing knowledge and understanding of healthcare environments from a facility management or design perspective a plus.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Vocational-technical degree in computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) OR education and training in computer aided drafting and two years of experience performing interior space planning for large spaces; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED: Employee has training in computer-aided drafting, interior design, architecture, construction, construction management, or facilities management and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing design services including project management and contract administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Agency structure, policies and procedures, space planning principles, construction management, project space planning, and implementation. Manste space planning on a large scale & project management a plus. Ability to: Perform under limited supervision, establish working relationships with employees, state agency management, consultants and contractors. Perform in varied tasks associated with renovations and construction, managing internal and external partner expectations and goals.
