Position Summary

R&D Test Engineer - ITT Corporation - Motion Technologies - N.A. Division - Novi, MI

ITT Corporation is pursuing a Test Engineer for its R&D team to manage dynamometer brake testing. Role will interpret test procedures to create dynamometer test code and meet with internal/external customers on various brake performance and NVH technical issues.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in performing brake dynamometer testing by ensuring equipment is operating as expected, review test data for accuracy and generate test reports.
• Create dynamometer test code based on provided test procedures.
• Develop new test methods.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and computer hardware concerns.
• Monitor test schedule and proactively work with test group to optimize dynamometer efficiency.
• Anticipate future market testing requirements based on new automotive macro-trends (electrification, autonomous driving) to ensure ITT products will meet all new requirements
• Follow all safety rules and procedures in the performance of this position's duties and reports any unsafe practices to the supervisor.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background of testing experience.
• Knowledge of brake system performance, especially friction materials and NVH.
• Problem solving and analysis skills that include the collection, evaluation and reporting of data and information related to system problems and observations.
• Ability to troubleshoot/solve mechanical, electrical and computer hardware concerns.
• Strong communication skills that include attentive listening, ability to respond to opinions constructively and effectively present ideas to an audience.
• Ability to effectively prepare and present information to internal and external customers.
• Structured and organized mindset to manage multiple short and long term projects.
• Ability to work in a team, and collaborative attitude.
• Knowledge of VBA, Pro-Link, RevData, Abaqus, Matlab or similar software.
• Knowledge of data acquisition systems, Link Dynamometers, environmental control systems, B&K, LMS, and Polytech.
