Job Description

The WNET Group will soon launch American Graduate: Jobs Explained, a national digital content initiative that will leverage public media's unique local/national infrastructure to expose high school students to tools and resources that will help them discover well-paying, in-demand careers and industries which may not require traditional educational pathways. Please note this is a grant funded position with an anticipated term of three years with the possibility of renewal.

The TikTok Specialist will work closely with the project team, external firms and consultants, project advisors, and funders internal stakeholders, to develop, curate, and create videos that inform teens on TikTok about in-demand careers and career pathways they likely haven't considered. The Tik Tok Specialist will help train and educate colleagues at public media stations around the country on TikTok best practices, convene regular production meetings, provide feedback on their videos, coordinate content pipelines, and produce videos to support the project.
• Creates, maintains, and consistently updates a central American Graduate: Jobs Explained TikTok channel, featuring video content from stations across the country;
• Coordinates the development, production, and delivery of TikTok content supporting the overall goals and objectives of the initiative;
• Reviews, evaluates, and advises partner stations on TikTok content plans, timelines, subjects, and production styles;
• In partnership with project staff and external consultants, develops a curriculum for a professional development series to be provided to TikTok producers and managers at public media stations around the country;
• Convenes weekly meetings with partner station TikTok producers to share successes, best practices, and advice;
• Updates the American Graduate: Jobs Explained web page monthly with TikTok videos, existing career development resources, and partner station information;
• Identifies emerging trends, opportunities, and influential content creators on TikTok focused on careers, jobs, and pathways to employment;
• Synthesizes feedback and information from National Business Advisory Group and Youth Advisory Group to inform project improvements and course corrections;
• Provides internal updates on performance metrics and assists in drafting regular updates and reports for project funder;
• Additional responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications include:
• Two (2) years creating TikTok videos and working with social media and digital video production;
• Demonstrated ability to film, edit and create TikTok content;
• Social media-savvy with other platforms (Facebook, Instagram,YouTube, etc.);
• Knowledge of digital metrics/KPIs and Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Docs, Google Drive and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.) and Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills;
• Solid copy-editing skills, ability to self-edit your own work;
• Experience managing media and/or updating website content in WordPress or another content management system (CMS).

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker who sees current platform trends and finds innovative ways to tell a story in digital video.

Participation in occasional evening and weekend virtual events, as well as domestic travel (state and national health guidelines permitting) may be necessary.
