Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD) seeks an enthusiastic colleague for a training coordinator role within our Global Animal Care and Compliance group supporting research and development of veterinary medicines in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Learning Zone Management System Administrator, assist in the maintenance of the VMRD Animal Welfare Training Program and record system.
  • Document training activities within a learning management system
  • Assist in the application of current training and continuing education programs to members of the animal care and use program.
  • Assist in the development of new training courses/programs as needed.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in ongoing activities based on audit/inspection findings.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections/site visits as needed, including assistance with maintaining animal welfare related training documentation and tracking of action items
  • Act as an internal advocate for responsible in vivo experimentation by identifying opportunities to provide positive feedback on how animal work has enhanced the VMRD mission (e.g., during IACUC meetings or other company department meetings).
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with vivarium and laboratory personnel
  • Manage and promote the internal 3Rs program globally
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and the capacity to expand areas of expertise and learn new skills to meet changing needs.
  • Ability to influence and incorporate diverse perspectives to collaborate with team members, customers, and partners globally
  • Excellent organization skills, including attention to detail, and follow-up on actions, to meet the demands of a highly regulated, compliant environment.
  • AAS/BS/BA degree in a scientific discipline or related field with 2 more years' experience in an animal care, biomedical research, administrative or regulatory setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Some working knowledge of animal facility operations and regulatory requirements governing animal research preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to challenges with confidence and flexibility
Desired Skill Sets:
  • Knowledge of Federal Laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to the care and use of research animals, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments in a laboratory animal program
