JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Carboline is seeking a transportation associate, located at our Corporate Headquarters office in St. Louis, MO. This position is part of our transportation team and will be responsible for transportation coordination. This person will need basic computer skills, data entry, entry level Excel experience and the ability to work within a team. Any prior transportation experience is an added plus!

Minimum Requirements

High School Degree or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

2 - 4 year Business degree or 3-5 years Transportation experience.

Essential Functions

  • Handles daily transportation issues in accordance with 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H, and IATA regulations and Carboline procedures.
  • Traces / expedites shipments as required and coordinates deliveries with carriers to meet requests/requirements; extra/additional cost expedites arranged as approved by Sales Management.
  • Provides freight quotations and rate comparisons recommending best routing for required delivery dates.
  • Assists in maintenance of the Transportation Management System. • Schedules trucks, coordinating with various shipping locations, on delivery and pricing.
  • Locates, qualifies and selects new truckload carriers.
  • Collects data and provides analysis for alternatives to current transportation practices.
  • Prepares, assists customers' Bills of Lading preparation, customer returns, etc.
  • Investigates and approves if appropriate, special or unusual charges on freight invoices.
  • Acts as primary back-up for Transportation Manager; including preparation of monthly Transportation report for Management.
  • Handles copy work, filing, routine correspondence and special projects as needed / required.
  • Committed to the Company's safety and quality programs.
