RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS & SERV (BA-RPAS-IUBLA)
Under the general supervision of the Equipment Manager, drives a 2 ton box truck and smaller trucks, to and from campus locations, picking up and delivering supplies, furnishings and equipment, including but not limited to: furniture, carpets, large kitchen appliances, computers and televisions, and risers and public address equipment. Loads and unloads truck by hand and/or using forklift, pallet jack, hand cart, or other equipment. Receives "Truck Request" tickets, and prioritizes and sequences requests to expedite pick-ups and deliveries. Verifies loads against requests at pick-up and delivery points; signs and validates completion.
High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in the operation of a 2 ton truck.
Ability to successfully complete forklift certification.
Possess, or ability to obtain, and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Subject to motor vehicle history check.
Ability to carry heavy items up and down stairs. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
Work-related experience in the safe use of forklift, pallet jack, and hand cart.
Working Conditions / Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to remain stationary; travel around work area; climb or balance and get low to the ground. The employee must regularly lift and /or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position also requires intense mental concentration in negotiating traffic, deciphering incomplete or incomprehensible truck tickets, and dealing with other related situations.
