Position OverviewThe Center for Certification and Competency-Based Education (C3BE), in collaboration with the School of Engineering Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, seeks a group of Undergraduate Research Trainees for a research project related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging of undergraduate students in the School of Engineering.
The research project uses interviews to generate an ecosystem visualization and composite stories to reveal gaps and alignment between stated institutional goals, practices of faculty and staff, and the perception and experience of engineering students, especially those from historically marginalized groups (HMG).
The time commitment for this position is ~4 hours a week, spanning March to June 2024, when the project period ends, and excluding KU holidays and breaks.
This project is supported by the Kansas Space Grant Consortium.Job Description30% - Research training and reflection: Meet with research team to plan and rehearse interviews and focus groups and engage in reflection
30% - Conduct interviews with undergraduate students in SOE from historically marginalized groups; generate field notes; summarize findings, under guidance graduate student researchers
40% - Research product co-generation: Work with research team to generate and revise composite stories based on student interviews, and to revise a resource map
***Training will be provided by the PIs and project researchers. They will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the graduate researcher.Required Qualifications
