Job Description Summary:
Utility Maintenance Operator is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of all steam boiler systems and equipment. Analyze/assess problems quickly and accurately, act independently and with little supervision and the ability to learn new tasks and systems. Understand instrumentation and automated systems operations, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance. Manages time well, accomplishing tasks on schedule and the willingness to perform all assigned tasks within their ability.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform the monitoring, daily mechanical rounds, inspection, maintenance, and repair of utility facility equipment.
  • Perform utility facility corrective and preventive maintenance, identify and repair any utility equipment safety violations and operate the facility utility systems.
  • Perform boiler water chemistry to maintain pH
  • Assure these tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner. Work with other trade skill sets and contractors to complete work orders to trade standards and customer expectations.
  • Continue both formal and informal training of utility facility systems to assure the knowledge and ability to maintain the latest utility facility systems.
  • Can read blue prints and complete any necessary paper work assigned. Assure customer satisfaction with quality work performance.
  • Perform any other assigned tasks.
  • Assist in evaluating the needs of all scheduled and non-scheduled work requests and special projects.
  • Support determining and monitoring the inventory levels of materials, tools, spare parts and supplies required for maintenance and operation of utility facility services.
  • Personally respond to emergency requests and perform repairs through to completion.
Qualifications

Qualified individual should have a minimum of three years field experience in the Operating Engineering field and understanding and compliance with Federal, state, and local codes and laws pertaining to utility facility maintenance of systems.

Education (Preferred)
  • Possess a high school diploma or an approved GED.
  • Possess a current Operating Engineer's Certification or capable of doing so within 90 days of accepting the position.
  • An Associate's Degree in Industrial, Engineering, or Management
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Possess or have ability to obtain a Class 2 Boiler Operator license 2 nd Class
