Position Description:

Job Purpose and Scope:

OZK Labs is the entrepreneurial heart of Bank OZK, located at the center of the Innovation District in Downtown St. Petersburg, FL. We lead the digital transformation of community banking to deliver financial services that positively impact the lives of our customers.

UX Designer II is responsible for collaborating with cross functional product teams to design frictionless solutions that emphasize and address user needs, while satisfying business and technical requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Optimizes applications to improve ease of use and create the optimal user experience by exploring numerous approaches to solve end users' problems.
  • Creates user flows, wireframes, detailed visual mockups, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate design solutions with product teams, business stakeholders, and end-users.
  • Conducts interviews and user testing and identify opportunities for improvement from end users' perspective; documents and communicates findings to product teams.
  • Partners with engineers, product teams, and other UX designers to develop and maintain a design system to ensure consistent and delightful experiences across all bank OZK digital products.
  • Develops and applies a deep working knowledge of assigned products and end users; documents design standards and user personas.
  • Works in an agile development environment, collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders in the pursuit of shared business objectives.
  • Stays current with the latest design trends and best practices; provides thought leadership to team in these areas.
  • Empathizes with and advocates for users in day-to-day activities.
  • Contributes to productive and collaborative culture at OZK Labs.
  • Conducts competitor analysis to inform decision making around product positioning, as needed.
  • Assists with content development, as needed.
  • Produces accurate, thorough and timely work, while meeting commitments and following policies and procedures.
  • Completes training, as needed.
  • Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.
  • Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.
  • Follows Bank policy, practice, and procedure.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of modern user experience design principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of graphic design fundamentals and functional understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript concepts.
  • Ability to mentor other designers and contribute to their professional growth.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and user-centric mindset.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, delivering quality work on time.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, initiative, self-motivation, and a team-player approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in using a variety of design, evaluation, and prototyping tools, including but not limited to Sketch, Invision, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and UserTesting.com.

    Position Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, design, or related field, or commensurate work experience, required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in UX design role required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an agile product development environment preferred.
  • Portfolio of UX design and/or research projects preferred.
  • Financial services industry experience preferred.
