We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Celgard where we develop and manufacture membrane battery separators that are critical components used in lithium-ion batteries for electric drive vehicles (EDVs) and energy storage systems (ESS).

Job Description:

Reporting to the Value Engineering Manager, this role will be lead and support continuous improvement activities across Celgard looking to optimize our manufacturing costs while delivering excellent value and quality to our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for improvement that lie outside the scope of day-to-day plant operations. Initiate and execute projects focused on team goals.
  • Initiate and participate in safety, quality, production & cost improvements
  • Work closely with IT and other stakeholders to visualize KPIs and improve manufacturing cost.
  • Independently identify and work with external vendors to introduce new technology to Celgard.
  • Serve as technical lead for cross-plant collaboration and improvement efforts between Charlotte and Concord manufacturing plants.
  • Provide regular updates to Celgard leadership detailing efforts and results around cost reduction and global continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with R&D organization to align process development activities with product development activities.
  • Work with technical counterparts at other Polypore, Asahi Kasei North America, and Asahi Kasei companies on joint improvement efforts.
  • Support department wide projects assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Desired
  • Must to have willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated problem solving, root cause analysis and resolution using technical data and statistical methods.
  • Must have good leadership skills and be able to provide direct mentorship to 1 process engineering tech.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Know how to evaluate the team effectiveness, and how to improve its performance.
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • B.S. in Engineering, BSME, BSChemE, BSIE, or Science related field required
  • 4-6 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in web-based processes such as paper or non-wovens, polymer film and slitting of web-based products is desired.
  • Demonstrated group leadership success.
  • Skills typical to manufacturing and process engineering with a strong emphasis on execution of projects, process improvement (process yield & product capability) equipment validation methods, statistical analysis.
  • Must be able to execute detailed plans with tight timelines to meet growing market demands.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
