SUMMARY

  • To provide the engineering support and supervision required to successfully deliver vehicle emissions test work on a chassis rolls equipped with a CVS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, plan and supervise vehicle emissions testing
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of vehicle emissions test results and prepare technical reports based on those results
  • Generate and review project proposals and participate in business development activities when required
  • Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new technologies as appropriate to the role
  • Mentor junior engineers and technician staff to assist in their technical career development
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area
  • To be responsible for ensuring the quality of vehicle emissions test results
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Work with instrumentation engineers and management to continually develop capabilities that match industry needs
  • Maintain awareness of, and meet the requirements of the Company Quality System
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for managing personnel (performance review, hiring/firing, goal-setting)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 5 or more years of chassis dynamometer testing related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • US Citizenship
  • Experience with creating and executing vehicle emissions tests
  • Familiarity with the legislation applicable to vehicle testing (Part 86 and Part 1066)
  • Experience conducting vehicle emissions tests utilizing a CVS system and having responsibility for the end results
  • Detailed knowledge of internal combustion engine operation and the associated emissions outputs
  • Familiarity with Engine Management Systems (EMS) principles including the use of calibration tools and processes
  • Understanding of chassis dynamometer operation including testing practices, instrumentation, and calculations
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical reports to customers
  • Ability to specify and implement general test equipment e.g. sizing/specifying heat exchangers, pumps, flow meters, valves, transducers etc
  • Familiarity with standardized test cycles and relevant government regulations
  • Knowledge of CARB, EPA and NHTSA legislative requirements for light duty and heavy duty vehicles
  • Ability to analyze test data to detect trends or anomalies and to effectively communicate the results
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints, as part of a team or individually
  • Self-motivated with the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner with appropriate attention to detail - Essential
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility with working hours
  • AVL PUMA, iGEM vehicle, GEM Open Offline, Concerto, and Microsoft Office Skills
