Job Description SummaryThe Department of Education at Wake Forest University expects to fill a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in social studies education to begin July 2024. The initial term of this appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. Applicants must hold at least a Master's degree at the time of appointment. The applicant should have at least five years of successful teaching experience in diverse and inclusive school environments.Job Description:

We are a Bachelor's and Master's degree granting department with a strong relationship with and commitment to public schools. This position has a 3:3 teaching load and includes social studies education instruction and supervision of students in school-based field placements. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the department. The primary teaching duties will include but are not limited to EDU 354/654: Teaching Secondary Social Studies; EDU 295/642: Teaching Elementary Social Studies; EDU 364L/650L: Student Teaching Supervision; EDU 365/655: Professional Development Seminars, and EDU 311/712: Learning and Cognitive Science. Additional responsibilities will entail service to the department and university, including serving on department committees and advising undergraduate students.
