Lafayette is an undergraduate-only institution, and the Mechanical Engineering Department features small class sizes, hands-on laboratory experiences in each year of the curriculum, and five to six student-selected year-long capstone design projects annually. The Department seeks dynamic, inclusive teachers, who are interested in offering hands-on courses. Each position is a one-year full-time appointment, with the equivalent of a three-course teaching load per semester. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or related field by the start of the appointment.

The Department offers professional development support through class observations and mentorship. Lafayette College also supports our visiting faculty members through the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education and a year-long orientation and development program, organized by our Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (CITLS). Visiting faculty members are offered funding for travel to a professional conference and for research students through our EXCEL Scholars and Clare Boothe Luce Scholars programs.

To apply, please submit application materials, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy including course interests, and three letters of reference at: http://apply.interfolio.com/122500. In the cover letter, please address how you will support Lafayette College's commitment to diversity and inclusion as articulated in the College's diversity statement (https://about.lafayette.edu/diversity-statement/). Review of applications will begin April 7 and will continue until the positions are filled.
