Position Purpose:
The Vice President of Engineering will lead a broad range of engineering activities on projects within Veolia North America's (VNA) portfolio of water treatment, waste treatment, Industrial, Hazardous waste and energy assets across North America. This individual will lead a team of engineers and professionals to optimize asset performance with regard to process performance and operational efficiency. A specific emphasis on optimizing the projects to return the highest value to ultimately fulfill the company's overall aspirations and growth strategy within North America.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in VNA executive leadership team to establish and execute market strategy
  • Lead the Engineering department for the technical staff that support facility operations and initiatives
  • Develop, maintain and implement engineering and project standards
  • Coordinate with the Business Unit Development team to establish bidding and contracting strategy to ensure a smooth transition of various projects (BD, Construction, Operation phases)
  • Coordinate with internal departments (procurement, resource assessment, EH&S, etc.) and external consultants and contractors to optimize performance and compliance
  • Development and validation of budgets
  • Provide risk assessments for bidding and contracting process
  • Establish and maintain feedback loop with Project Delivery and Development regions to increase project competitiveness and accuracy
  • Establish and maintain process for de-risking projects and contributing to EHS standards
  • Lead and manage internal engineering support function throughout project lifecycle
  • Prioritize assignment of key resources
  • Ability to work across multiple technologies (water treatment, waste water treatment, hazardous waste, and energy)
  • Stay abreast of new project requirements, industry developments and trends, technologies, etc.
  • Perform in a consistent manner to support "Veolia's Purpose"



Education/Experience/Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Master's degree desired
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in a similar area with progressive responsibility
  • Previous water treatment, wastewater treatment and energy experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Detail-oriented individual who will work proactively to pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Results-oriented professional with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups
  • Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of projects across North America
