MetaRisk Development Actuary

Guy Carpenter's Global Advisory Analytics is seeking candidates for the following position. Candidates can be remote or based in either our Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis or New York office.

  • You will collaborate to maintain and enhance mission critical software for Guy Carpenter Actuarial, Analytics and Strategic Advisory services
  • You will work with Guy Carpenter colleagues and external clients to maximize the value of the MetaRisk® Tool Suite
  • This role provides you with the opportunity to work with a team of software development professionals on best-in-class reinsurance pricing and capital modeling software
  • You will be proficient in both the actuarial methodologies for quantifying risk and the computational methods for modeling insurance and reinsurance.

The National US average range for this role is $103,700 to $184,300. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications & education. We do not anticipate candidates hired into this role would immediately earn a salary at or near the top end of the range however, such a decision will be dependent on a case by case basis.

In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

We will count on you to:
  • Lead implementation of actuarial aspects of software enhancements including developing and analyzing requirements in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Ensure actuarial soundness of complex calculations and interactions with model components.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers
  • Create test suites for software enhancements, regression testing and release candidate testing
  • Manage day-to-day client contact to resolve software-related questions
  • Develop and present training materials for internal and external users, including written documentation, PowerPoint presentations and video-based training.
  • Present or moderate sessions at industry conferences related to actuarial science, catastrophe modeling, and risk management.
  • Provide technical content for the development of marketing materials.
  • Investigate anomalous results and behavior of software to identify possible bugs.

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics, Statistics, Finance or related field.
  • ACAS designation (or near completion) with 4-6+ years reinsurance work experience
  • A good working knowledge of risk, insurance, reinsurance and capital modelling
  • The ability to learn, adapt, and problem-solve
  • Excellent communication skills and a team orientation
  • The desire to collaborate with and celebrate people of all cultures and backgrounds.
