The VP, Portfolio Management will lead, inspire, manage and develop a world-class PMO function, as part of the executive team for the Global R&D Organization. Key responsibilities include managing the PMO organization globally across two product development sites in Solna, Sweden & Sunnyvale, California, supporting regulated NPD (new product development) for assays/reagents, instrument systems and software with the objective to deliver projects/programs on time and budget that meet and exceed business objectives and customer needs. The position is also accountable for Product Planning Group (PPG) operating reviews with Cepheid senior leadership, focusing on resource planning, organizational development initiatives, coordinating critical workstreams across Cepheid functional areas. The position is also responsible for process managing the Rationalized Roadmap & Growth Equation Team part of Cepheid Strategic Innovation Review board operating reviews, working in tight collaboration with Global Product Management, Finance, R&D leadership, and DBS. This is a highly visible role within Cepheid with a clear career path to further senior leadership roles of increasing responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Executive management of NPD and rationalized roadmaps for assays and systems

·Collaborate with leadership team to develop and execute strategies that create clear competitive advantage taking into account market, customer and patient needs with a focus on generating $0.5-1B incremental development pipeline value and providing market expansion and protection in support of a total vase business in excess of $3B
·Execute the strategy for Cepheid's Holistic view of Innovation, targeting specific areas to create clear new product development and gain a competitive advantage.
·Drive strategic recommendations and execution of action plans on a portfolio level to ensure that the entire assay portfolio is executed and aligned with business expectations.

·Foster clear communication and alignment globally for Product Portfolios, rationalized Roadmap, Assays to the Project Priority List (PPL)
·Lead and ensure on-time delivery for assay portfolio while implementing process improvement initiatives to drive higher performance in on-time delivery.
·Take accountability for cross-functional coordination of new product development functions, including budgeting, resourcing, and prioritization of projects across new product development, market expansion and market protection programs. This includes delivering on compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies.
·Develop and implement metrics and KPI's for Portfolio and Program Management function, inclusive of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity, activated through influencing and supporting the development and well-being of a diverse associate population.

Manage and develops best practices for PMO and R&D function

·Develop associates to ensure that projects are planned, coordinated, and executed successfully in alignment with business expectations.
·Manage Prioritized Project Lists, Master Project List, Rationalized Roadmap together with Product Management function
·Lead the Strategic Innovation Review process (SIR) and drive continuous improvement through the Holistic View of Innovation activities towards best-in-class On-Time Delivery, enhancing resource capability.

Build organizational excellence

·Development and deploy continuous improvement on best practices for project execution and talent development for PMO.
·Build a winning culture, which includes enabling the PMO function to drive and execute NPD decisions.
·Create, clarify, and share vision of long-term objectives and strategies for the group targeting on time, on budget project/program delivery that meets business and customer needs.
·Drive PM excellence through best practice methodologies, process systems, DBS and other tools; Drive in-depth understanding of business strategies, capabilities coupled with equally deep knowledge of development and commercialization processes.

The role is expected to provide executive leadership experience in a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programs and ensure successful delivery. This role will also ensure project resources have the correct toolsets and processes in place and that all relevant staff are trained and equipped to deliver successfully.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished strategic and operating leader with an outstanding record of accomplishment building, leading and growing organizations. This executive will have proven her/his ability to execute flawlessly while also possessing the drive and charisma to motivate others around her/him to do the same. While the successful candidate's background may come from a variety of industries, specific experience and expertise gained from within the diagnostics industry would be preferred and experience in a regulated industry is required. This individual must possess compelling experience in fast-paced highly regulated industry with a bias for growth, including demonstrated success in driving innovation-based growth for at least a $1B+ business. Global experience in managing a global workforce with specific experience in the European region would be of significant benefit.

The salary range for this role is $ 280000 to 330000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
