Job Title: Workforce Training Adjunct Instructor of Industrial Electricity

Campus Location: Workforce Training Greeneville Campus (Employees are assigned to a "home" location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: The overall purpose of this position is to provide industrial electricity training for troubleshooting problems of the kinds likely to be experienced in an industrial environment. This job may provide training or troubleshooting as it relates to PLC support and/or programming (if applicable).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach industrial electricity / PLC troubleshooting courses. Courses are offered primarily for conventional in-person classes with potential for some Hybrid or Desktop Video Courses through Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other technology.
  • Prepare or review course syllabi or develop customized outlines for business and industry customers as needed.
  • Perform required training for adjunct and work within institution's policies and procedures.
  • Deliver training programs in accordance with applicable standards for industry recognized credentials. Curriculum may be changed based upon review and feedback.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Technical Certifications in Technical education or industrial maintenance or engineering technologies from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of directly-related experience.
  • Position requires advanced level of industrial electricity troubleshooting experience within industrial maintenance or engineering installation.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial electricity related devices such as PLC units, production lines, robotics, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Leadership & Supervisory:

  • No authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.
  • The incumbent is familiar with the work and is expected to perform with only moderate supervision, with periodic checks on progress and conformance with expectations. Tasks are somewhat varied. The immediate supervisor will be readily accessible for consultation.

Environment & Working Conditions: Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations. May be exposed to varying conditions when traveling to various work locations on other campuses.

Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):

  • Ability to operate and manage industrial electricity equipment and as well as standard office machines such as fax and copier in the department.
  • Spends considerable time on computers, viewing monitors and using keyboard and mouse.
  • Travel to other campuses and work locations as needed to deliver course content.
  • Support evening and distance education offerings as needed to reach students.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperature fluctuations.
  • Heavy lifting is occasionally required to move equipment for program activities.
